The construction industry continues to innovate to reduce its environmental impact, build smarter and more efficiently, and develop better tools for tradespeople. This is evident from the nine innovations nominated for the BouwBeurs Awards 2025. The judges saw a strong focus on sustainability, efficiency and craftsmanship in the entries. "We judged more than 50 entries on innovativeness, solution orientation, practicality, social impact, sustainability and financial impact. From these we have nominated nine products, all of which we will exhibit during BouwBeurs," said the jury. The jury will announce the winners on the opening day of BouwBeurs 2025, which takes place from Monday, Feb. 3 to Friday, Feb. 7, 2025 at Royal Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.
Exhibitors at BouwBeurs 2025 could present their innovations to a jury of six experts. There are awards to be won in three categories: environmental impact, smart & efficient and tools & professionals. Three innovations were nominated in each category.
Nominees in the environmental impact category
In the environmental impact category, the jury had a wide variety of solutions to choose from: from bio-based earplugs and energy-generating vacuum glass to circular construction fencing and ready-made hedges with native plant species that promote biodiversity. The jury said, "We found it inspiring to see how in each product and service, in its own way, steps have been taken that are necessary to achieve that climate-neutral society." The nominees are:

- BUVA and Holonite's CO2-neutral sill is made from flax and an environmentally friendly resin. This reduces CO2 emissions compared to traditional materials;
- Duco Natural Cooling keeps buildings cool without using a lot of energy. The system combines smart shading with ventilation, making air conditioning unnecessary;
- Ibis for Environmental Impact from Brink is an easy-to-use software tool that easily combines environmental impact calculations with project budgets. Designed for construction professionals, it provides real-time insight into CO₂ emissions, environmental costs and the financial impact of design decisions.

Nominees in the smart & efficient category
The BouwBeurs Awards aims to reward entries in the smart & efficient category that contribute to a smooth construction process and efficiency in the built environment. Digitalization and industrialization go hand in hand in this regard. "We welcome all the steps being taken to make processes more efficient while at the same time often adding value to the end result," the jury said. The nominees are:

- Prefab Isolatie Nederland's "Insulate in a Day" service has a quick and easy way to insulate homes from the inside. First they make a 3D scan of the house, then they work everything out digitally and produce the insulation. Within one day, a house is insulated.
- Masterwatt's Charge is a smart controller that works like a hot water battery, paired with a Wally or Saga water heater. The system optimizes hot water storage based on fluctuating energy rates and excess solar energy.
- HoriSun from Ubbink is a smart roof that combines building and installation technology. The roof has built-in solar panels and a waterproof, vented ridge. It is installed as a single unit, allowing it to be assembled quickly and without scaffolding.

Nominees in the tools & professionals category
On the construction site, professionals work with passion and use both physical and digital tools to do their jobs. It is the people who make the difference. "Therefore, with the tools & craftsmen category we want to reward products and services that make work in construction lighter, easier, safer or more attractive," the jury explained. The nominees are:

- The TP60 Pulltest kit from First Base Ground Screws is a handy tool for measuring load bearing capacity on site. The compact system, developed with Staht-Pull Testers UK, can pull up to 60 kN and performs a complete measurement in 10 minutes.
- The Grabo High Flow is a vacuum lifter for heavy and porous materials such as concrete and pavement. It has an air flow of 1500 liters per minute and can lift up to 82 kg with a 400×400 mm suction blade. This makes it more powerful than its predecessor, the Grabo.
- SprayTec by Tec7 is the first sprayable adhesive based on MS hybrid polymers. It is designed to fully bond large surfaces. The adhesive can handle high temperatures (up to 150°C), is repositionable and can be applied with a single coat.
