Finishing day edges is a difficult and time-consuming job. Damage to the frames caused by sliding your spatula or putty knife out of the way is easy and is especially noticeable by the light. A secure challenge, therefore. For those who like to deliver a project perfectly, Jansen Prefab offers a turnkey solution.
In Belgium, prefab day edge elements from Jansen Prefab are often used, and in the Netherlands these prefab elements are also gaining popularity. 'This is due to the great time savings, easy installation and perfect finish,' states Gunther Vliegen, Sales Manager of Jansen Prefab. 'Once you use our products, you don't want anything else. I hear that every day from our customers. Even more, they wonder why they didn't discover this sooner. So in the past four years we have grown solidly by almost 70 percent.' In Belgium, the manufacturer now has 130 distributors; in the Netherlands, distribution points are being added every day.
Strong and finished
There are profiles for wet and dry construction. Each element consists of a plasterboard into which a corner profile is embedded. 'Thanks to this clever invention, you can finish a reveal edge very easily and faster, even up to 60%,' Gunther points out. There are of course other manufacturers on the market with a similar product, but Gunther gives a clear reason why a day edge element from Jansen Prefab is the best choice. To reinforce that claim, he refers to the way the corner profiles are embedded in the plasterboard.
We always choose a strong, flexible and patented adhesive. Once that has dried, you can pull and lash the corner profile as much as you like, it will not move from its place.' This is necessary because in practice quite a lot of pressure is exerted on it, for example during transport and on the building site when picking it up and passing it on. 'Moreover, we manually seal the groove between the plasterboard and the incorporated corner profile in our factory. This eliminates the need to finish that part, which in turn saves time on the construction site.'
Handiness
During installation, the prefabricated day sills must be cut to length and cut to width. Then you quickly glue or screw them to the wall. Again, a nice gain in terms of time. As an installer, you no longer have to tape off the entire window, nor do you have to iron and dry the reveal several times. You do have to measure well at several points, saw accurately and apply a level. 'Just that skill is peculiar to installers,' says Gunther.
More prefabs in the range
The day edge elements, by the way, are not the only precast attachments in Jansen Prefab's range. They also supply standard corner elements with impact-resistant corner, with which you can quickly and easily finish corners in plasterboard walls. You can also turn to this manufacturer for custom-made elements. For the custom-made prefab elements, the correct notches are milled into the drywall at the factory, eliminating the need to do that on the construction site, which causes a lot of dust there. You can even have the elements glued at the factory.
