The Environmental Performance of Buildings(MPG) was to be tightened on Jan. 1, 2025, but Minister De Jonge delayed it for six months. Biobased building would be unfairly adversely affected.
The Internet consultation on the MPG that was held had received more than 100 responses, and more time is needed to process them. And between the decision on the new MPG and its entry into force should be at least six months, according to the minister. "So that the parties can prepare for it.
Biobased building
The main objections relate to the effects of the new MPG on biobased construction. The calculation method used would be negative for that. De Jonge agrees, by the way. He therefore wants certain environmental indicators to be given less weight.
Exactly how that will take shape is not yet clear. In May, the minister plans to send a new proposal to the House so that it can be debated before the summer. But he already acknowledges that this planning is ambitious. As a result, who knows, the delay may take longer than the six months now mentioned.
