Annemarie van Doorn departs from Dutch Green Building Council

Annemarie van Doorn is leaving as Managing Director of the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) foundation. Van Doorn was involved with DGBC from the very beginning. After 17 years, she established a foundation for social initiatives in the built environment.

Van Doorn was co-founder and board member of DGBC and from 2014 General Director. In recent years, she has worked to introduce concrete actions and programs that actually accelerate the sustainability of the built environment, such as the introduction and further development of BREEAM-NL, the Paris Proof program and the climate adaptation theme. She has always worked hard for broad recognition of DGBC's vision and views, both in the market and in government.

Van Doorn will continue to represent DGBC at various meetings until the summer. DGBC will search for a new Managing Director. Until then, Daphne Braal, former chairman of the board of housing corporation Vidomes and until recently a board member of DGBC, will take over as Interim Director.

Leading role in sustainability

Chairman of the Board Rutger Schuur commented on Van Doorn's departure, "Annemarie has been Director and the face of DGBC for 11 years. Under her leadership, she and her team built an organization of more than 400 partners from the construction and real estate sector and played a leading role in making the built environment in the Netherlands more sustainable. The BREEAM-NL label has become the sustainability standard for real estate. Her enthusiasm and ability to connect are a great inspiration for many to take sustainable steps forward. We thank Annemarie for her great impact in this sustainable transition and we expect she will do the same with her new foundation."

Proud

Van Doorn: "I am very proud of what we have achieved together in recent years. The great team at DGBC and all the parties we work with give me every confidence in a wonderful continuation of the foundation and its activities. I will continue to closely follow the developments at DGBC and its partners."

Van Doorn remains committed to a better living environment, putting people first. "More and more construction and real estate parties are looking for interpretation for 'social sustainability,' which also fits in these times when companies 'must' report on Environmental Social Governance criteria (ESG). With the new foundation, I am going to work with the sector to make a concrete, positive and measurable contribution to the more socially social challenges of our society."
