In recent decades, the building world has changed. Closed spaces and concrete walls have given way to light, space and open sightlines. A trend that not only brings a building to "the now," but is also better for the well-being of building users. You can see how the building of tomorrow can be designed with more daylight and fire safety at BouwBeurs 2025.

Knowledge of the past, vision of the present
Kingspan Light + Air, formerly Brakel Atmos, has seen the world of buildings change over the past 50 years, observes Michel Verwaal, Commercial Technical Director at Kingspan Light + Air: "From skylights that ensure a pleasant stay in an atrium, or skylights that provide pleasant daylighting to large glass domes such as at The Edge Amsterdam West."

The way fire safety is looked at is also changing. For example at the new Ede-Wageningen station where unique 60-minute fire-rated glass has been used to ensure fire and escape safety.

Better Buildings for a Better World
The experience of recent years provides a vision to now and tomorrow. By not only looking at the application of aluminum or steel. "But also by looking at the application of wood in our well-known BA-4 glass roof profiles," says Michel Verwaal. "In this way, we are actively looking at making our products more sustainable."

Kingspan Light + Air also translates the vision of architects to build better, safer and more sustainable transparency and light in buildings by striving for the Komo certificate for environmentally friendly and recyclable products and by providing fire-resistant and walkable glazing. And by using glass as well as smoke and heat extraction, both a pleasant and safe environment can be achieved.
