Gasunie signs contracts with six contractors for new energy infrastructure

Gasunie is concluding new ten-year framework agreements with a selection of six contractors (combinations). These agreements cover the maintenance and management of existing natural gas pipelines as well as the construction of new pipelines for hydrogen, green gas andCO2, among other things. The energy transition leads to many new projects, in which the maintenance of existing infrastructure also remains crucial. The agreement includes a maximum investment volume of 4 billion euros, spread over a period of 10 years.

The ten-year contracts were established with the companies Heijmans Infra B.V., A.Hak LeidingbouwB.V., Visser & Smit Hanab B.V., Combination Van Voskuilen Industrie B.V./VanGelder Kabel-, Leiding-, en Montagewerken B.V., MVOI B.V. and the Combination De Romein Infra & Milieu B.V./MaxStreicher GmbH.

The shift in focus from natural gas to new energy such as hydrogen,CO2, green gas and to heat requires a new approach to procurement and infrastructure development. This includes an emphasis on safety, emission-free operation and social responsibility.

Renewed working method

According to Janneke Hermes, CFO of Gasunie, the agreement includes a renewed way of working that focuses on strategic partnership in light of the energy transition. "For our core business, the transportation of energy, we are investing heavily in the coming years. This is why we are opting for long-term strategic partnerships where we jointly address the challenges, paying attention to safety, circularity, biodiversity and the impact of our work on the environment." The focus of investments is on maintaining a safe and reliable gas network. In addition, with new investments in pipelines especially for hydrogen andCO2 transport. The signing is part of the "Working & Engineering in Strategic Partnerships" program.
