Industry again sets up Timber Pavilion at BouwBeurs 2025

Patrick Assink, DGA of Assink Hout in Rietmolen, has been the driving force behind the Wood Pavilion from the beginning. Niels Peltenburg of Scantimber in Bloemendaal has also been around for a long time. As well as Houtwereld itself. Assink: 'A few editions ago Centrum Hout decided to cancel its own stand at the Bouwbeurs. A number of companies found that unacceptable. Especially now that so much attention is being paid to timber construction, the timber industry needs to be seen. At the fair, the whole of the construction industry in the Netherlands attends; the timber trade does business with all those parties.' The 'founding partners' make a plan, design and build an attractive stand and invite companies to participate. The sponsorship from all these companies together pretty much covers the out-of-pocket costs. Costs for materials, labor and logistics are borne by the partners.

Large and joint Wood Pavilion 2025
A number of wood companies choose to have their own stand at the Bouwbeurs. Evan Buytendijk, also a founding partner: 'The pavilion is a godsend for smaller and medium-sized companies. Like for my engineering firm. We support the industry with all kinds of issues, carry out inspections and audits, give courses and training. Many timber traders have been dealing in certain types of wood or plate material for years. You can rent your own stand for a lot of money, but what are you going to present there? A large, common booth that radiates 'wood' in everything is much more useful. That's where you get to talk to people.

He continues: 'A basic sponsor of the Wood Pavilion 2025 gets a mention on the booth and on the website. That way you contribute to the positioning of the timber product.' With that putting down, Frank Meijer is literally concerned.

He spends part of his time working with Assink Hout, but is also the entrepreneur behind HSB collective, a company selling Pavatex products, wood fiber insulation boards, in the Netherlands. 'Once again, the pavilion will be spectacular. We are now in a different hall, hall 8, close to the entrance, nicely free on the exhibition floor. With good spots all around for all participants. So our 'visibility' improves. That hall is 11 meters high, which we are going to use. There will at least be a stage in it. Together with Koen van Wieringen, project designer at Scantimber, which also supplies the CLT, and Patrick Assink (production), Meijer works out his idea.

Sessions and the Wood Drink
The stage is coming up because Wood World and Evan Buytendijk are going to do something new. Each day, one of the two will provide a one-hour substantive program focused on the wood industry. On Thursday afternoons there is, of course, the illustrious "Wood Drink.

Sebastiaan Jansen, sales manager at Eisma Bouwmedia, publisher of the trade magazines Houtwereld, Het Houtblad and Timmerfabrikant: 'We work together with the Jaarbeurs. For example, we produce the digital pocket guide for the fair. An initiative like the Houtpavilion we are happy to encourage. The companies that choose the large sponsorship package get an advertisement in the trade fair preview in Houtwereld. That way you increase your visibility considerably.'
