ISSO pools new knowledge for air-to-water heat pumps

The field of heat pump systems is constantly evolving. New knowledge and insights arise almost daily, and you want to apply that knowledge in practice as well as possible. As a professional, you are helped by the recently updated ISSO publication 98 'Air/water heat pumps in dwellings'.

ISSO publication 98 'Air-to-water heat pumps in dwellings' provides professionals with guidance on the design, implementation, delivery and management of individual air-to-water heat pump systems, with outside air and/or ventilation air as the source. The document is basically limited to one type of system: the heat pump for hot water generation for space heating and domestic hot water. Optionally, this device can function in combination with a central heating boiler and/or (optional) cooling.

New knowledge

The publication discusses three variants:

  • Application of a combination heat pump for heating, domestic hot water preparation and cooling for an individual system. Hot water generation can be either integrated or separate to the heat pump.
  • Application of a heat pump boiler.
  • Application of a hybrid heat pump.

The knowledge in the publication is now fully aligned with the latest insights and installation practice. In addition, the various types of air-to-water heat pumps, hybrid heat pumps and delivery systems have been added. There are also appendices on the selection and dimensioning of these delivery systems and developments in refrigerants.
