LG Electronics launches the new Therma V R290 Monobloc air-water heat pump, which uses the low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerant R290 and features LG's compressor technology. It offers heating, cooling and hot water combined with easy and user-friendly management.
With the introduction, LG is anticipating the stricter refrigerant regulations that will take effect in Europe in the near future. LG has chosen the refrigerant R290 - or propane, with a GWP of only three - for the new Therma V R290 Monobloc. The A+++ solution reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 93 percent compared to a conventional boiler by using heat from the air as an energy source.
Easy installation
The design of the Therma V R290 Monobloc fits very well with different types of homes and buildings, according to LG. The housing of LG's newest air-water heat pump has a long life and a gray tone that goes well with any color. The unit's grille - which provides proper ventilation to prevent overheating - has a distinctive wavy pattern, which also results in optimal noise reduction. Thanks to the use of one fan instead of two, the Therma V is small enough to be placed under most windows (where there is no ventilation grille and the window cannot be opened) without obstructing the view. This makes the unit a practical addition to any home.
The new Therma V is a monoblock solution with hydraulic components integrated into the unit; a configuration that simplifies installation by eliminating the need for refrigerant lines. Moreover, LG's air-water heat pump offers flexibility thanks to three installation options - control, hydronic and combi units - that take into account different conditions in the installation environment. For maximum ease of maintenance, technicians can access the inside of the unit by simply opening the side panel. For maximum safety and reliability, the Therma V R290 Monobloc also features sealed electrical components, proactive ventilation and vent ducts. Because negative pressure is created from the main fan at the electronics, all potentially flammable gases are extracted and vented to the outside.
Year-round comfort
In addition to stricter rules for energy efficiency, the European Union is introducing stricter guidelines for the amount of noise a heat pump may produce. Thanks to noise and vibration damping technologies, the Therma V helps create a pleasant and quiet environment for users and local residents. Biomechanical innovations - such as aero-hubs, high leading edges and variable wing flaps - help reduce fan noise. The use of a dual silencing system and vibration dampers ensures that the outdoor unit of LG's air-water heat pump provides a noise reduction of at least 9 decibels (12kW models). This means no noise nuisance for residents or neighbors. The Therma V is one of the quietest units in its category because of this effective noise reduction and is certified with the Quiet Mark seal of approval.
Every home needs reliable hot water heating and cooling. By using a high-efficiency compressor with injection technology, LG's new air-water heat pump can deliver water temperatures up to 75 degrees Fahrenheit year-round. Conveniently for homeowners and property managers, the system can also be used with previously installed radiator heating systems. LG's compressor technology allows the Therma V R290 Monobloc to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature even when it is freezing outside down to -28 degrees Celsius. During warmer seasons, the solution's fast, efficient cooling keeps the indoors refreshingly cool.
User-friendly energy solutions
The Therma V offers maximum convenience and efficient management of energy consumption through enhanced connectivity and integration. For example, through LG's ThinQ app, users can easily set the temperature, see how much power they are using and reduce their energy costs. LG's Building Energy Control (BECON) cloud, which is integrated into the R290, also allows HVAC technicians to remotely pre-install the heat pump software (and update the firmware). This saves a lot of time and simplifies the installation process. The integration with BECON cloud, by the way, does not only apply to the Therma V, but from now on it will also be standard on all new models of LG's heat pumps and boilers
