BouwBeurs 2025, organized by Royal Jaarbeurs, once again proved itself to be the largest construction event in the Netherlands. Last week, the trade fair attracted over 63,600 construction professionals. The official opening was performed by Mona Keijzer, Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning, whose speech underlined the importance of innovation and cooperation in the construction sector. Spread across six exhibition halls, visitors discovered the latest innovations from more than 600 exhibitors. Under the theme "Heart for Construction," bio-based construction, circularity, digitalization and industrialization took center stage. BouwBeurs 2025 not only brought the construction industry together physically, but also set the sector in motion in terms of content. Trade fair manager Joyce van de Hoef looks back with pride: "It was a fantastic week full of groundbreaking innovations and inspiring discussions with entrepreneurs, construction professionals and manufacturers. We discussed current themes that concern the construction industry, from circular construction and the nitrogen crisis to energy challenges and the shared ambition to be carbon neutral by 2050. This included a focus on smarter and more efficient construction."
Joint innovative strength aimed at future-proof housing supply
During the opening, Mona Keijzer underlined the urgency of the housing task in which we need to build 100,000 homes per year.Doekle Terpstra, president of Techniek Nederland responded, "There is broad agreement on the importance of getting housing construction underway quickly. At the same time, we must not lose sight of sustainability. We have a responsibility to build in a future-proof way, thinking not only about realizing 100,000 homes a year, but also about the quality and long-term impact of these homes. Our joint innovative strength should not only focus on the quantitative aspect, but above all on building a future-proof housing supply." Jaco Uittenbogaard, director of the Contractors Federation of the Netherlands complemented: "The positive future outlook for the sector offers every opportunity to seek cooperation and work with partners to find solutions to the many issues and transitions we face." Jeroen de Willigen, chairman of the Branchevereniging Nederlandse Architectenbureaus (BNA) explained during the opening, "The solution to the housing crisis must come from all sides: the government, the market and from cooperation between parties. Ensure long-term collaborations by building on existing collaborations. This way you speed up the process and avoid unnecessary delays and extra costs."
